Dr.Scholl's Active Series Review

I received this product through Influenster. Unfortunately it was uncomfortable for the first few days. Then it was ok. Finally it ended up hurting the toe I had fractured about 15 years ago and I could no longer wear these.

Birchbox June 2013

I also received my June Birchbox today! Birchbox is also a beauty subscription service like Ipsy and is also $10 a month or you can buy a yearly subscription for $110. I don't think that the Birchbox products are as generous or full sized like Ipsy but they have a great points program. For every item you write a review for, you receive 10 Birchbox points, and for every dollar you spend on their site, you earn 1 point. You can redeem 100 points for $10 off of your purchase. So if you save up 300 points, that would give you $30 of free products. A lot of times they will offer bonus points, so it's easy to earn them.

I think the only item I received that was full sized was the Color Club nail polish in London Calling. It is 0.25 fl oz.
I also received samples of Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo for dry and frizzy hair. It has a fruity/citrusy scent to it and a milky, light pink color.
There is also foil packets of Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner and Davines Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion.
Then there is a 0.25 fl. oz. pot of Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser and a LAQA & Co. Lil' Lip Duo. Not sure what color it is because it's not labeled.

I will post more pics and review these products once I've used them. So stay tuned!

If you would like to sign up for Birchbox, please feel free to use my referral link :)

Best Hair Detangler and Detangling Hair Brush

I have been on the search for a great hair detangler and hair brush. You may have seen the Hair Bean on TV but I actually found it at Ross (it's like a Marshall's). It's original price was $9.99 but at Ross you can buy it for $4.99 or $2.99. This product does exactly what is claims. It combs your hair without hurting and does not pull out a lot of hair. It can be used on all hair types, while wet or dry. My hair is long (down to my waist) and is prone to damage. This brush is the best brush I have ever used. The only thing I don't like about it, is the fact that it has no handle. However I can over look that considering how gentle it is on my hair.I highly recommend the Hair Bean!
To make brushing my hair even easier, I have fell in love with with Beauty Protector's Protect and Detangle spray. I received a sample in my Birchbox this month and could not believe the difference! I have tried detangling products from Pantene, L'Oreal, Ion, Mane N' Tail, and Dove. NONE of them can compare to Beauty Protector's product. Unfortunately it is a BirchBox exclusive and retails for $21.95 but it is totally worth it! It smells and feels great, while doing exactly what it claims! It says that it is an "instant detangler, thermal protector, UV protector, seals cuticle, smoothes hair, locks in color, adds shine, weightless, non-greasy, moisturizes and conditions, for all hair types and  can be used daily." I highly recommend this product!
You can buy it here:
I think you can buy it even if you are not subscribed to Birchbox. However if you decide to subscribe to Birchbox, it is $10 a month and they send you around 5 beauty products to sample. They also have a great points program, which I used to get $10 off of the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle spray. If you would like to subscribe using my refferal link, I would realy appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Julep DD Crème and Julep DD Concealer Review

So I have been a Julep Maven for over a year now and this is the first time I was extremely disappointed in my box. I chose the Modern Beauty box for June and it included the Julep DD Crème in medium and the Julep DD concealer in medium. They also put 3 pieces of taffy in the box as well.

I was disappointed in the volume of these products. This is how empty the bottles were when I received them. The DD Creme seemed like it was half empty. The bottle says 1 oz. (28g). When I weighed it on my food scale it weighed out to 1 1/2 oz. So I guess technically there was 1oz. worth of product in it, however I believe if you are going to make the packaging that big, you should at least fill it up. Or just make the packaging smaller.

The DD concealer seemed almost completely empty. It was so hard to squeeze out some product to test out on my hand. The packaging said that it had 3g or .11 oz. of product in it. When I weighed it on my food scale, it weighed in at 11 g. So basically there was 8g worth of packaging. How sad is that? Such a terrible design and waste of materials.  Just as a stated before, if you're going to make your packaging that large, the least you can do is fill it up or just make it smaller.

I emailed Julep and sent them these pics and they offered to send me new ones or 2,000 Jules, or half and half. I just chose to be sent new products. They said I could even keep the ones I had because all of their bottles would be filled the same. So...

The DD Crème retails for $36.00 or $28.80 if you are a Julep Maven. The DD Concealer retails for $25.60 (no discounted price for mavens). I don't think the DD Crème is worth purchasing. It has light coverage like a BB cream but is also supposed to correct like a CC cream. I like how it blends into my skin but I don't like the SPF smell. I like the coverage of the DD Concealer, but again it's just not worth the price for the amount of product you get and how hard it is to squeeze it out of the tube.

This is what Julep says about these products on their website:

Like I said before, this is the first time I have been disatified with a Julep box and had to complain to the company. I also like that I can choose to skip a box whenever I feel like it. If you would like to sign up it's normally $20 a month but you can get your first box FREE with the code "FREEBOX".
And if you feel like being extra nice, please use my refferal link below :) thanks!

ShuUemura VS Shiseido Eyelash Curler

I wanted my first post to be very special. It is something I wish I had found a long time ago. Arch measurements for the ShuUemura and Shiseido eyelash curler. I must have very shallow Asian eyes, because the number one problem I have had with finding the right eyelash curler was that they never fit the curve of my eye! The center of it would always be very far from the lash line while the corners would be pinching me :(

These are approximate measurements of course, but as you can see, the arch of the ShuUemura eyelash curler (gold) is 3/8 in. and the Shiseido (dark grey) eyelash curler is 2/8 in. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it's like buying a pair of shoes. A size 6 will fit better than a 6 1/2.
The other difference is in the pad. the ShuUemura one is a lot softer than the Shiseido. The pads are interchangable, so I have tried the ShuUemura pad in the Shiseido frame and it's pretty awesome :)
